Life on the Road: Las Vegas, The End.

This is a part of a ‘series’ of posts, sharing pictures and stories from my parent’s cross-country RV adventure. Since November 2016, Mom and Bill have been living life on the road with their dog, Monty. They have no itinerary and no end-of-the-road, save for a summer in Alaska 2017.

We said our good-byes to Aimee and sent her on her way. She was Chicago bound for work commitments and then back to Alaska. It was sooooo nice to spend some time with her in our tiny home on wheels and let her experience what our adventure is all about. Nellis Air Force Base, home of the Thunderbirds was a great place for us to stay and call our home for the few days she was with us. Next stop, Snowbird Mesa on BLM land just north of Lake Mead. Couldn’t ask for better views or prettier sunsets. And all for free!!

Life on the Road: Cragy Wash – Lake Havasu, AZ

This is a part of a ‘series’ of posts, sharing pictures and stories from my parent’s cross-country RV adventure. Since November 2016, Mom and Bill have been living life on the road with their dog, Monty. They have no itinerary and no end-of-the-road, save for a summer in Alaska 2017.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from them (in the blogosphere). They’ve been happy and healthy, exploring the L48 and making their way north. Also, I think they were in Cragy Wash before we met up in Vegas. I can’t keep up with these two anymore!

After a brief stop in Yuma Arizona for food and fuel, we headed north on AZ 95 to stay once again in Quartzsite. This time the desert was quite deserted. Most of the snowbirds and winter residents pulled out for their summer homes. It was like we had the whole place to ourselves. A week in Quartzsite and then on to Lake Havasu and Cragy Wash BLM land. We were on a mission. Get to Las Vegas and rendezvous with Aimee….

Life on the Road: Painted Rock

This is a part of a ‘series’ of posts, sharing pictures and stories from my parent’s cross-country RV adventure. Since November 2016, Mom and Bill have been living life on the road with their dog, Monty. They have no itinerary and no end-of-the-road, save for a summer in Alaska 2017.

Leaving Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument we decided to head towards Yuma Arizona via Interstate 10. On the way was Painted Rock BLM, it looked like a fun place to explore and spend the night. What we found  was a mound of rocks covered in ancient petroglyphs. No one knows for sure the meanings of images. Some suggest they might be symbols of spiritual beings, carved by shamans for religious reasons. Others think its just ancient graffiti. This spot saw many travelers through the years, Native Americans, Spanish explorers and Mormon settlers to name a few. It was also on the route of the Overland Mail Service, with stagecoaches made in Albany NY.
