Marathons 2016: Her Tern Half (run happy)

I’m 2/3 through my race commitments for 2016 – hooray! Last weekend was the Her Tern Half, an annual women’s race in Anchorage and my redemption run for 2016.

While I originally wanted to train and run in under 2 hours, Mayor’s Marathon taught me to let that shit go. I felt good and strong physically and mentally on Sunday and made peace with myself to be satisfied with the run itself and the outcome would be what it would. And… Finish time: 2:14:14. I’m psyched with that number.

I came across the finish line feeling pushed but not depleted and remembering that I like to run. In fact, I like it best when I’m not suffering! With that mindset: I’m releasing on goal times and PRs and will finish this training cycle taking care of myself, mind and body. Berlin is only 9 weeks away!

BTW: Kudos to Emily and Meredith. Meredith came all the way from Texas and ran the HTH and this was Emily’s 1st half. So proud.
