Summer at sea level doesn’t necessarily mean the same in the mountains. At the end of a gorgeous day in Anchorage my friend Katherine & I hiked out to Rabbit Lake, an easy 5ish mile hike from the Chugach front range.
Well, dur. Despite it being in the 50s and 60s in Anchorage for weeks, there’s still snow in the valleys! We were about 1/3 of the way in when we hit wet snow pack from a day of glaring sun. There were soaked feet both ways, but with the longer days and warm sunshine it was still a nice hike out and pleasant camping.
