Happy New Year!
Earlier this week, my friend Andrew posted the simple definitions and differences between intentions and resolutions. It was a good reminder as I looked ahead to 2015.
“Resolution: the act of finding an answer or solution to a conflict, problems, etc; the act of resolving something.”
I set one resolution: I resolve to read two (2) books a month, for the entire year. Reading will help me relax, fuel my imagination and give me something more to blog about! Books in queue include: The Book Thief, Unbroken, Dog Whistle Politics and The Generosity Network.
And then, intentions:
“Intention: a thing you you plan to do or achieve, an aim or purpose, a determination to act a certain way.”
Setting intentions is much more appropriate for me and the goals I have for 2015. In no particular order, they are:
Cleaner eating. I know, I know… With this hot bod, you must be surprised to learn I don’t have great eating habits. For 2015, I plan to eat better: thoughtful food shopping & sourcing, better meals, snacks and drinks. All that good stuff- stay tuned for recipes and updates.
And with that one, exercising more! Run a little faster, balance in Crow Pose, bike more!
Simplify: this is a little broader, in 2015 I will be thoughtfully accepting and rejecting invitations to events, projects, etc in an effort to put better energy into my existing commitments and relationships. Quality over quantity, as they say.
And finally, financial wellbeing: save, save, save… Be a smarter, thoughtful consumer (maybe even consume less), etc. This has been a rolling resolution/intention for the past few years, it’s a work in progress.
Best wishes to you and yours in 2015!
